Admissions

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in our Programs.  Please note the following guidelines of the admissions process:

How to apply

Please note that admission to our programs is rolling and spots will be filled in as applications are submitted.  We encourage you to apply as soon as possible because spaces in the program may fill up quickly.

Please submit an electronic application

Interview

Once we have reviewed your application, your child will be invited to come in and meet our teachers and our Director.  Parents are asked to accompany their children and should feel free to use this time as an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the program.

For admission to our early age programs (ages 2-4 year olds) interview dates will be posted here during each application cycle. Current interview date is March 25, 2024, for groups where spaces are available. Children must be at least one-and-a-half years old on the day of the March round of interviews in order to be eligible to attend during the following academic year. All interviews will last approximately 20 minutes. Please note that some interview times may be at 8:30 in the morning, while other interviews may take place later in the day. Parents are asked to do their best to keep the dates and times available until their interview is arranged.

For admission to our afterschool and Upper Division programs (ages 5-16), you will be notified about your interview date after we receive your application.

All applicants ages 5 and above will be assessed to evaluate their oral language and listening comprehension skills, and reading and writing ability in Russian. Acceptance into the program and class placement are contingent on the results of the assessment.

Decisions and Notifications

Decisions will be announced at the end of the application process.  For some groups, if a child is also applying to another program or an ongoing elementary school, parents are notified of our decision prior to the ISAAGNY notification deadline. Pushkin Academy of Russian Heritage reserves the right not to accept applicants, including siblings of past and current students, into the program, based on the outcome of the interview.

Payment and Contract

Those parents who wish to accept admission to the program for their children are asked to sign a contract and submit a tuition deposit as well as a $50 registration fee.

Tuition Schedule is as follows: 70% at the time of registration and 30% by November 30 for Lower Division classes (ages 2-6) and 50% at the time of registration and 50% by November 30 for Upper Division classes (ages 8 and up).

Please note that group selections for each child (after the contract is signed) are final.  Administration reserves the right not to honor any group change request made by a parent after the contract has been signed.

Caregiver Program

As per a mandate from the Department of Health, starting in the Fall of 2011, for age groups 2 through 5, caregivers are required to remain on the premises for the duration of class time. A ratio of 1 caregiver to 4 students is required. The caregiver fees range from $990 to $1630 per family, depending on duration of the class and on how many times a week the class meets. Fees are to be submitted at the time of tuition payment.

Program Option and Tuition

Current tuitions and class options are posted on class pages. Please note that they are indicative and could change in the future. You will be given a finalized schedule and tuition prices for the specific year to which you are applying during the application process.

Please also note that the time of each program may change as a result of the applicant pool.  We will do our best to notify the families during the application process should such changes take place.
